  • In order to cope with agro-fishery challenges from market opening, it is necessary to move beyond the past passive, defensive manner-based agro-fishery and to nurture competitiveness and improve the life standards of rural communities so that Korea's agro-fishery sector can further develop. The Korean government is determined to open up a new era full of vitality and hope while doing away with distrust, despair, and sense of defeat rampant in rural communities.

  • The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries upholds its vision of "First-Class Agro-Fishery Food", an desirable final state of the agro-fishery sector befitting the advanced first-class nation, in an effort to help Korea's agro-fishery sector to garner competitiveness in the time of market opening.
    • Provision of safe and high quality food to the 48 million Korean people by scaling, organizing, and distinguishing the agro-fishery sector with entrepreneurship.
    • In particular, emphasis on the food industry which enables the primary industry based agro-fishery to advance into the secondary and tertiary industries with high value added such as processing and marketing.
