☐ NVRQS is pleased to announce that NVRQS, MIFAFF will host the Fourth OIE/FAO-APHCA Regional Workshop and Working Group Meeting on BSE and Other Prion Diseases at Hotel - Seoul Kyoyuk Munhwa Hoekwan, between 24 and 26 February 2010. 

 ¡Û Technical officers from eight Asian countries including RO Korea, PR China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines and Thailand will attend this workshop.
- In addition to technical presentations by experts on 24 February, this workshop will include country reports by the participating countries on 25 February.

☐ The main aim of the Workshop is for all the participants to refresh and update their technical knowledge on BSE and other Prion diseases diagnosis and epidemiology. The First Workshop and Working Group Meeting were held in 2005 in Tsukuba, Japan and then member countries of the Working Group took turns to host it. The Second Workshop was held in Tsukuba, Japan in 2007 and the Third in Qingdao, PR China, in 2008.

☐ In this workshop, distinguished experts from OIE Headquarters in Paris, OIE Reference Laboratories on Prion Diseases (BSE/Scrapie/Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)) in Japan, United Kingdom and Canada will deliver their technical presentations on BSE/Prion diseases, for examples: - OIE international standards on BSE and advance in Prion diseases diagnosis research, etc.

☐ By hosting this workshop, NVRQS will share its experience on TSE surveillance and research with other member countries. In addition, NVRQS hopes that this workshop will be one of the important steps towards RO Korea’s application for recognition as OIE Reference Laboratory on CWD in 2011. 

 ¡Û In the nearest future, NVRQS hopes to be accredited as OIE Reference Laboratory on CWD and lead the TSE diagnosis and research as a member of the Asian Working Group on BSE and other Prion Diseases.
