Achievements in Agriculture and Food for the last Six Months under the Newly Organized Government

- Grounds for the agricultural and food policy were provided by working up newly growing agricultural and food industries, enhancing sanitation management for agricultural and food products, arranging stable management of farming and fishing households along with relieving their burdens, etc.

¡à Since the government was reorganized under president Lee Myung-bak on February 25, there have been achievements in agricultural and food division such as arranging directions and assignments for agricultural and food policies, enhancing sanitation management for agricultural and food products, revitalizing farming and fishing villages, and so on.

¨ç To answer the foundation of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and to answer changes in the domestic and foreign environments, the vision, direction, purpose, and assignment of agricultural and food policies were rearranged, while the method, system, and strategy to promote those policies were greatly reformed.

 

  ¡Û The keynote of agricultural governing is focused on raising strong agricultural and food industries with hope and vision, by mixing and combining agriculture and fisheries into the second and the third main industries, escaping from the policy concentrated on suppliers to increase production.

  ¡Û Under the vision of raising¡ºthe first-grade farming and fishing food¡»and¡ºstrong agriculture¡»to realize aggressive field governance, creditable agricultural and food industries, hopeful farming and fishing villages, creative farming and fishing workers, and a communicative culture of the structure have been established as the goals for agricultural governance.

    - Following the direction of the government in areas such as activating the marketplace-economy and globalizing Korea, purposes for the agricultural policy were suggested to raise industry competitiveness by planting state-of-the-art technologies and by combining them with circulation·service·management.

    - Innovated circulation of agricultural and food products, raising hard-core professionals, upbringing the food industry, and establishing circulation companies in each city and county will be powerfully promoted as detailed policies to realize earning and powerful agriculture and fisheries, as well as rural and fishing villages with higher living standards.

    - A support system was established to improve the food industry by establishing the Laws and Ordinances to Promote Food Industry, and by newly organizing Food Industry Promotion Team and Food Industry Policy Bureau.

  ¡Û Agricultural governance also covers agricultural companies and agricultural food industries including markets, management, technology, investment, finance, and enterprises, escaping the focus on production.

    - Driving new policies for development to cope with globalization

  ¡Û Based on the recognition that rural and fishing villages are places where people can live affluent lives in the generation of an advanced first-grade nation, measures to develop various resources for the future will be promoted.

    - Rural and fishing villages have been noticed as places for living and repose beloved by people, of which industry, culture, leisure, tourism, and welfare are also enjoyable. (The Base of Green-Growing)
